Nike's big push into Web3.

Time again for another diversion from the craziness that is FTX.

Back in 2021, Nike purchased Web3 studio, RTFKT.

They then released the CryptoKicks project which was a huge success.

Web3 fanatics and sneakerheads alike have been waiting for their next move. And now, it’s clear, Nike are going ‘full Web3’ on us all.

Nike has just announced the launch of ‘.Swoosh’ (pronounced ‘dot-swoosh’) which is designed to highlight the brand’s initiatives in virtual apparel.

Here are 3 cool things about this:

  1. Nike has said that customers will have the opportunity to become co-creators of the digital apparel (and share in royalties for sales).

  2. Nike is planning to attach utility to at least some of their NFTs, using the power of Web3 to allow users to unlock real-world benefits like exclusive physical apparel or chats with pro athletes.

  3. Nike Virtual Studios GM, Ron Faris, says: “We are shaping a marketplace of the future with an accessible platform for the Web3-curious."

Translation: We’re gonna make this thing so darn easy to use, anyone can do it.

The platform isn't entirely up and running yet, but Nike plans to gradually let new users onto the platform through the end of the year, ahead of the first .Swoosh NFT drop in January 2023.

Neat!
